Eureka! The unexpected in maths and science

17 June 2017 – All day from 10:00AM – 155 Bishopgate, London, EC2M 3YD – Free Entrance

Do you think that the job of a scientist is just about carrying out boring computations or experiments with an expected outcome? You may reconsider your opinion if you visit this exhibition. You may discover that, actually, the work of a researcher is more of an adventure!

The unexpected plays a key role in research: at the very origin of a researcher’s work there is the assumption of something unknown to be discovered. Experimental evidence can contradict the initial hypothesis, or a mistake can lead to a new discovery. This exhibition will present some ‘famous’ surprising discoveries as well as a collection of reflections from researchers.
